Training Academy – Designing with Natural Stone – Portugal 2016

In June, 24 architects from six countries gained first-hand experience of the Portuguese ornamental stone industry in an initiative organised by Assimagra in collaboration with Veronafiere – the Italian organiser of the reputed Marmomacc.

Strategically planned over a year, the International Architecture Conference Designing with Natural Stone-Portugal included visits to some of the most important Portuguese companies in the business – ETMA, Solancis, Marfilpe, Mocapor and the Galrão Group.

CEVALOR – Technological Centre of the Portuguese Natural Stone and the Natural Park of Serra d’ Aire e Candeeiros were other matters of interest in the programme, which also included presentations, exhibitions and visits to the historical centres of Lisbon and Sintra.

This initiative shows the configuration and versatility of the Portuguese natural stone, recognised by the AIA – American Institute of Architects, RIBA – The Royal Institute of British Architects, and the RAIC – Royal Architecture Institute of Canada. For more information, go to
